Trip to Athens

I recently took a trip to Athens Georgia!

And the town is obsessed with Reptar!

REPTAR PICKLEBURGER $6.66

People were walking around wearing Reptar Paraphenlia. There were images of Reptar painted, chalked, and etched into sidewalks, staircases, street signs, lampposts, all over. I went to grab a bite to eat somewhere and the had something called a REPTAR PICKLEBURGER! It was inescapable.

It goes deeper

This led me down a rabbit hole that was hard to come back out of.

I looked into the history of the town and Reptar has been integral since the beginning. He's directly mentioned in the town's founding documents. This is extra weird because the cartoon is relatively recent. What's going on here? And there appears to be some signs of a cult? This is getting scary.
